Can't add a integer and a string, so it just combines the output together
No, it's not 11. And the final result from memory is actually an int. When you add an integer and a char together, it's instantly an integer because ever char has a number/code associated with it. It just so happens in this case, '1' = 49 and 1 = 1. :)

Note, you said string. It's actually a char. Had it actually been a string, yes, the output would have been 11.
